I didn't post for a while, basically the last two months of this brutal Summer. You don't even want to take any pictures when you feel exhausted all the time, sweaty, with your face swollen, and with no energy to get out of bed in the morning. This year's summer in Japan was challenging for me. The worst since I moved here 7 years ago. I don't remember it being so hot and humid before. I felt so physically bad that I even went to a doctor a couple of times. I got out of shape because obviously, I couldn't walk enough as outside was hell, I couldn't work out because my body wasn't functioning properly in this humidity. I changed my sleeping schedule for the first time in many years because by the end of each day I felt so drained that I was passing out by midnight. All I can say, it's the first time I was looking forward to Autumn so much 🍁🍂

They call it Shin rin yoku 森林浴 here. I remember I heard this word for the 1st time from a person who didn't even speak Japanese. It means peaceful walk through the woods or forest therapy. And it really helps me 🪵🌳🌲

Today, exactly 7 years ago, being one of those naive foreigners fascinated by beautiful mysterious Japan, I decided to move to this country. Now, after 7 years here, knowing all I know now, having gone through all those unthinkable things most of us, foreign women, are going through here, would I have made a different decision if I could turn the time back? I most definitely would... But, I still believe, that all of us are where we are supposed to be, for one reason or another. I can just say that I am grateful for those loyal friends who stayed with me through the years and whom I love to death. And I am grateful for those opportunities I had and might still have here. Let's 頑張って and be strong as long as we can ✊🏻👊🏻🤛🏻💪🏻

It's called "puddling"!
The term "puddling" refers to the process in which butterflies 'sip' from puddles of water, mud, dung or carrion on the ground. At the muddy or sandy puddle, the butterfly sips water rich in mineral salts and other essential nutrients that have leached from the surrounding soil and rocks. Male butterflies do more puddling than females.
Fluid ejection results from a need to pass great quantities of soil moisture through the gut in order to extract sufficient useful, but dilute, chemicals. If a particular puddling butterfly is closely watched, one can often see sudden, regular ejections, even squirts, of fluid from the end of the abdomen.
